PlayStation Plus

So Sony have finally launched a paid platform to their online service PlayStation Network to compete with Microsoft’s Xbox Live. PSN will still have the same features as before free for all users but if a user upgrades they are given exclusive access to extra features. I think that this is just Sony’s idea of trying to make some more money off of their loyal fan base by charging for some features that should be free. Of course there are features that you have to change for but automatically downloading game updates why should we pay for that?

Some of the paid features are nifty if not a little bit pointless. I think being able to have an hour trial of full games before you buy them is a good idea, but this is only available to a select group of games each month and it is unlikely to be the latest blockbuster. Also downloading a whole game for an hour game play is it worth the bandwidth, why don’t you just borrow it off a mate for free?

As you expect you get the perks of exclusive content that only PlayStation Plus users can get, getting early access to demos and beta trials and being able to download a select amount of PlayStation 1 games and Mini’s off the store each month for free. In my opinion I don’t think that a PlayStation Plus subscription is worth the money as I wouldn’t get the use out of it but if you have the money lying around and are a big downloader of the PS1 classics then this could save you some money.
